About (Matty Mullins – Biography)
Matty Mullins was born in Spokane, Washington on July 3, 1988. His father was a priest, and he grew up in a church. Mullins attended Shadle Park High School and grew up in a conservative Christian family where he was only able to watch gigs of Christian rock bands. He married Brittany Mullins when he was 18 years old.
He currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee. Mullins performed with several small music groups in Spokane before joining Memphis May Fire via an open audition in 2008.
He worked on the Between the Lies EP and the albums Sleepwalking, The Hollow, Challenger, Unconditional, This Light I Have, and Broken. Woe, Is Me, Hands Like Houses, Sleeping with Sirens, For Today, Spoken, Nowhere To Be Seen, and Yellowcard have all included him as a guest vocalist.
Mullins revealed in 2013 that he was embarking on a solo project. His debut solo album, Rise Records, was set to be released on September 23, 2014. In the United States, it debuted at number 66 on the Billboard 200 charts the week of October 11, 2014.
Mullins reflected on the way some of the girls in the audience were dressed at one of Memphis May Fire’s Vans Warped Tour shows in 2013, calling them “slutty,” which drew backlash from The Amity Affliction vocalist Joel Birch. Mullins later apologised and clarified that he had had positive intentions—attempting to remind the young women to respect themselves—but his words were poorly chosen.
